Because You Are Mine, Part VI
Because You Torment Me
Francesca takes the reins, blossoming under Ian’s tutelage and leading to a bold act of rebellion and sexual empowerment—one that sends Ian closer to the edge.
As far as Ian’s concerned, Francesca’s gone too far. It’s not just her flirtation with disaster, but her flagrant defiance and an agenda to torment him until he’s seeing red with need and desire. He will see the willful young woman submit, but when she does, Ian finds himself losing all of his carefully guarded control and leaping into the consuming flames with the woman he can’t live without.
Includes a bonus excerpt of Beth Kery’s Wicked Burn, now available.

"Because You Are Mine" (Ian's & Francesca's story) is an 8-part series, released in the fall of 2012. Combined they make a 368-page read. Please note that the Omnibus will be released in March 2013.And there will be a sequel to this series, "When I'm With You" (Lucien's & Elise's story) to be released in 8 weekly installments starting March 3, 2013 (series complete by April 23, 2013).
Since I am a reader in need of a HEA, I made sure I waited to read this series until all installments had been released. I read it in one sitting, thus I will review as a set.
Hero: Ian Noble/British/30 years old/mogul-playboy/$$$$/dark hair/blue eyes/dom
Heroine: Francesca Arno/American/23 years old/student-artist/red-gold hair/brown eyes/innocent
Francesca is a young artist, who entered her painting in a competition held by the billionaire, Ian Noble. She wins the competition and is commissioned to create the centerpiece painting for the lobby of Ian's new Chicago Skyscraper. The book opens up at the reception held in her honor. Ian and Francesca are introduced and she feels in instant attraction (recognizing he is out of her league) while he is intrigued, but reserved. He knows she is too innocent for the likes of him. Francesca is a bohemian; she is naïve, sweet and kind. She has a strained relationship with her parents, never quite measuring up. She lives with her three male roommates who are very protective of her. Ian, on the other hand, is the rich and extremely successful business mogul; he is enigmatic, worldly, handsome, sexy and oh so dominant and too "corrupted" for her. But there is much more to it, because Ian is full of secrets. For starters: The reception was not their first encounter. Four years prior Francesca had painted "The Cat That Walks By Himself". As it turns out Ian had been the inspiration for that painting. She had been sad to have to sell it. And Ian had bought and tracked her down...
Ian tries to fight his attraction to Francesca, but it's a losing battle and so their whirlwind romance begins, taking us across the ocean while Ian and Francesca get to know each other and have lot of scorching hot sex. But as Ian's secrets are revealed, his mysterious past continues to cast shadows over their relationship. Their love is challenged and their future threatened.
I thoroughly enjoyed Ian's & Francesca's story. And I very much look forward to Lucien's & Elise's story in "When I'm With You".

Because You Are Mine Part VI Because You Torment Me edition by Beth Kery Romance eBooks Reviews
I'm not sure if this is a way to get more money for your art, but I must tell you althought I fully enjoy the storyline and characters I think you could serve your readers better by just making the whole book available at a set price and perhaps write 2-3 books because the way you are separating the book now made me move onto a author with whole books. I agree with the others great writing poor format. To bad the story was pretty good.
I was not suckered into this book in parts. I knew I would have to purchase all the parts to read the story. So my negative review is not that I was upset over that set up (although I think it is a terrible ploy to offer people a novel in parts). The first couple chapters were good enough that I kept reading but the rest of it was nothing more than smut (not that smut is worthless.. but not at the price that this book ends up costing. The characters are pretty much unlikeable and their relationship was uninteresting.
I cannot believe the number of angry reviewers regarding the fact that this book is part of a multi-part series. Almost every serial "billionaire alpha-male BDSM" romance on is in this format with most additions cost approx. $3.00; I find it thoughtless that most reviews that are poor are for this reason and don't focus on the actual story.
This is a great story, and having read all five parts, I have to say it's one of my faves. Much better that a lot of these types of stories out there. I really love Ian and Francesca, and was so sad to finish the fifth installment because the story really grabs you. If you loved FSOG, then this book is for you!
I LOVE the story line, love the realization the characters are come into.... However, I will NOT buy any more due to the format. I refuse to spend any more than I already have on a book that still has MUCH to cover in the story line and calculating how much this will end up being is very sad. I have already spent $12 dollars (much more than I would be okay with spending) and the development of the story line and characters has at least $12 or more dollars left (even thought the author only has listed two more installments) the story will end badly in four chapters. Don't waste anymore money on this.
Where do I start? I was hesitant to start this serialized novel. I believe it is a way for publishers to make more money by selling books in installments which in turn, gouges the consumer. I believe $16 is way too much money to spend on this book. I wish I hadn't purchased as many parts as I did.
Basically, I enjoyed the first story and the characters so I kept going. The chapters were fairly well-written and definitely well-edited which I greatly appreciated. I loved Francesca's artistry and relationship with her roommates. I couldn't quite feel her connection to Ian or his to her.
Unfortunately, this installment did me in. I won't be buying any more. If I could return all the sections right now I would. I feel like the bondage went way too far for my comfort level. It seemed as if there was a marked lack of connection between the characters; no loving relationship to help even out the shock of the BDSM. I've decided I'm not a fan of BDSM fiction and I won't be reading anything else this heavy. I don't mind the light stuff but this was not light. Let's not even talk about how I feel about the "back door".
I'm starting a personal boycott against serialized novels from publishing houses. I can understand an Indie author who is self publishing but Penguin Publishing has no excuses. Please treat your consumer with respect Penguin. I'd much rather pay $10 for an entire novel than $16 (potentially more) for a novel I ultimately didn't enjoy!
