The Internet of Things (IoT) is where the web or Internet meets the physical world through interfaces, protocols, sensors, gateways, standards, and other interoperable technologies. When fully implemented it will be possible to monitor, connect, search, manage, and play with things more easily. In its core this technology is expected to bring a wide ranging ecosystem where every day physical objects are connected to the internet, having the capacity to identify themselves and communicate data to other objects within the network. It is even expected that every business in the future will become an IoT business. A forward- looking expectation for instance is where consumers will expect the same kind of connectivity they have on their mobile phones on their cars. This is why teaching Internet of Things at K-12 levels is needed now more than ever. Some schools like Zapphire School of Informatics and Technology (http//www.zapphireinformatics.org) have a curriculum in place to do just that. This book will discuss Why Internet of Things? big fierce data, STEM education, computer ethics, and curated learning sites. Students in K-12 should find the book informative and engaging. Available as a printed copy and ebook.
Internet of Things Beatrice Kilel Books
Although still nascent, the concept of linking up the physical world with the web will be common place in the near future. As different things are interconnected through interoperable technologies, it will be interesting to see how this will be in the next five years or less and the gains that will hopefully accrue from having these connections. Already some benefits can be seen. It is imperative all along for those developing technologies around this concept to consider the urgent need to address security issues as well. Introducing the topic at K-12 is a relevant idea. Recommended it.Product details
